I’ve been researching sweet sixteen party favors…

I needed some fresh ideas for my daughters sixteenth birthday party. My friend found quite a few party accessories and supplies online for her daughters celebration. So, I figured I’d see what they have. It was surprising to find so many ideas for party supplies for the tables and little gifts. I found a lot of nice stuff I can use for her party. There were cookie cutters I used to make cookies in the shape of the number 16 for her guests.

Since it was her birthday, I let her decide what she wanted and she decided to party at the roller rink and have her friends stay overnight. So I made the arrangements, and reserved tables with the roller rink in our neighborhood. I sent all of her girl friends special party invitations. It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I thought it would be. They offered pizza, hot dogs and soft drinks at a very reasonable price. At home I had everything set up for the party to continue. I put out the cookies I had made, along with a few other snacks, and set up birthday decorations.

The cookie cutters wasn’t the only thing I ordered online. Since I was getting by so cheap with this party, I ordered extra gifts from the selection of sweet sixteen favors for her and her friends. Each of the girls got a disposable camera to take pictures of this evenings event and a pink photo album to store them in. They all knew about the cameras, so they could take pictures at the roller rink, but they had no clue about the albums I bought for them. Even though they took a lot of photos at the roller rink, they all saved some picture taking for the sleepover.

Another party favor was a cosmetic bag with their first initial printed on the front. Along with that I also bought compact mirrors and manicure sets that matched their bags. I bought festive little favor boxes and filled them with candies for each of the girls. As soon as we got home, we celebrated with a sweet sixteen party with cake and ice cream and she opened all of her presents. We picked up movies on the way home for the girls and I made sure they had plenty of snacks and drinks, so they were all set for the night. After they got tired of dancing to their favorite tunes, they decided to give make overs and manicures to each other. From all the noise and laughing you knew they were having the time of their lives.

Finally, things started to quiet down and they broke out the popcorn and movies. I wanted to give them as much space as I could and not intrude on their girl time, but I got an invitation to join them for a movie. It made me feel good that they wanted to include me. After the second movie, one by one, they started falling asleep. All that was left was my daughter and I, at least for a few minutes. But before she passed out, she thanked me for giving her such a great party.

They ate breakfast and cleaned up everything left from the birthday party before I even got out of bed. I thought that was very thoughtful of them to do that for me. They shared a couple of more hours together and then some of the girls had left for home. Each of the girls said they had a great time at the party and they loved the cheap sweet sixteen favors I got them. It’s really neat being considered a cool mom.

Sweet sixteen ideas for my daughter!

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I was planning a birthday party for my daughter, who was turning sixteen and needed some suggestions. I was told by my friend that a good place for accessories was online where she got the supplies for her daughters party. So I decided to give it a try. It was surprising to find so many ideas for party supplies for the tables and little gifts. There were a lot of accessories I found that would be perfect for her party.

It was a lot cheaper than I figured it would be. They had a great package deal for birthday parties, with pizza, hot dogs and refreshments. I got the house prepared for the party that was to continue after skating. I decorated the house with birthday accessories, laid out snacks and put my sweet 16 cookies, I made, on the tables.

When I was searching the web for birthday ideas, I ordered a few other things besides the cookie cutters. Since this birthday party wasn’t costing me what I thought it would, I decided to order a few sweet sixteen favors for the girls. I ordered some adorable pink photo albums for all the girls, and disposable cameras for them to take pictures of the party. Everyone got a camera before we went to the roller rink party, but no one got an album until later that evening. Even though they took a lot of photos at the roller rink, they all saved some picture taking for the sleepover.

One of the favors was a cosmetic bag that had each girls initial on the front button. The cosmetic bags were just the beginning, I also bought manicure sets and purse mirrors for each of the girls. I bought festive little favor boxes and filled them with candies for each of the girls. As soon as we got home, we celebrated with a sweet sixteen idea with cake and ice cream and she opened all of her presents. So, with all the other snack foods, soft drinks and the chick flicks we picked up on the way home, they were a bunch of happy campers. They danced for a while, then they gave each other manicures with their new sets, and of course, they did the make up thing. You could tell they were all having a fantastic time.

When the noise starting dwindling down they got out the bowls of popcorn and started watching their movies. I wanted to give them as much space as I could and not intrude on their girl time, but I got an invitation to join them for a movie. It made me feel good that they wanted to include me. After the second movie, one by one, they started falling asleep. Soon, the only ones awake were me and my daughter, but she didn’t last much longer. With her eyes almost closed, she told me how much she loved her birthday party and thanked me.

They ate breakfast and cleaned up everything left from the birthday party before I even got out of bed. I was very impressed with their thoughtfulness in helping me out. They hung around with my daughter for a couple of hours, then the kids started heading for home. Each of the girls said they had a great time at the party and they loved the sweet sixteen ideas I got them. I like that my daughter and her friends now consider me to be a cool mom.
